Highest onion production and plantation in India comes from Nasik District of Maharashtra. APEDA records a production of 4905 thousand tons onions in Maharashtra alone. This gives exporters an advantage on price and quality selection in turn ensuring importer satisfaction. Onion is the Kharif and Rabi crop. However the Rabi crop during winter i.e. October to March is the Best for Export purposes and the life of the crop is more than the Rubi crop (July – October).
